The Feast of Tabernacles is a collection of teachings by Richard Mikelson.

These teachings explore spiritual depths of influential texts of scripture,  and of the human condition.

Wisdom

In the personification of wisdom, it is unmistakably clear that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself IS the wisdom of God. No man can possibly possess a personality of divine wisdom without first being processed by the Spirit of God. Christians can have the wisdom of eonian life by receiving the Spirit of God. A complete wisdom with the seven-fold spirit of sonship is coming from God.

It is those fortunate individuals who grow by being TAUGHT OF THE SPIRIT that are truly reaching maturity into the kingdom of God. God quickens the spirit of His sons and daughters to become recipients of His true wisdom. Those who are being redeemed by the blood of the Lamb are sanctified by the teachings of an indwelling Holy Spirit. Paul so exultingly cries:

“Of God are ye in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification, and redemption…” I Corinthians 1:30 R.V.

Note carefully Paul found that we are of God, being in Christ Jesus, and He is faithful to provide right and sanctifying wisdom that redeems us as the outcome. These wise ones in Christ Jesus, from every generaton, are those whom the Father has chosen to place about His throne, as they heard what the spirit says to the churches. They all experience a deliverance of being raised flawless before His throne.

"Who blesses us with every spiritual blessing among the celestial, in Christ, according as He chooses us in Him before the disruption of the world, we to be holy and flawless in His sight, in love, designating us beforehand for the place of a son for Him through Christ Jesus; in accord with the delight of His will, for the laud of the glory of His grace, which graces us in the Beloved in Whom we are having the deliverance through His blood, the forgiveness of offenses in accord with the riches of His grace, which He lavishes on us in all wisdom and prudence,

making known to us the secret of His will (in accord with His delight, which He purposed in Him) to have an administration of the complement of the eras, to head up all in the Christ-both that in the heavens and that on the earth-in Him in Whom our lot was cast also, being designated beforehand according to the purpose of the One Who is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will, that we should be for the laud of His glory, who are pre-expectant in the Christ.”   Ephesians 1:4-12 concordant

The spirit of God reveals to us the redemption and glory God has given Jesus and prepared for all who love Him. The heavenly treasury is found holding three precious gifts for those who follow Him: RIGHTEOUSNESS, SANCTIFICATION (being set apart), and REDEMPTION (deliverance). The life in God's Spirit releases these characteristics into our spirit now when we cooperate with His instruction.

His light is revealing to us, making us behold what is enthroned in Our Lord Jesus Christ. God sends the spirit of sonship to making us partake of the same divine nature as we see in Jesus Christ. He being made to be wisdom, righteousness, and redemption unto us.

“In Him, are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge…”   Colossians 2:3

YOU ARE of God, so you have God making you a partaker of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden in Him! Wisdom is hidden as a treasure in His dwelling. Now as He abides within, wisdom hides in us, becoming a fountain of light leading to a glorious shining of His throne within us. We are taught by the Spirit to become an ABIDING PLACE energized with spiritual life in union with God, as our Father, in ever increasing measures of wisdom and understanding.

Because God is a spirit, now our spirit is connected to Him by the wisdom He is inscribing within us. All Christians must learn to better appropriate the spiritual realities prepared for us by Christ Jesus. We do learn of our steadfast union by simply trusting the instructions within old and new testament. God is a Father Who is wise enough to answer our every prayer for vital and intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ. It is IN HIM, where all godly qualities are treasured up, that this unspeakable gift is seen.

The means by which the serpent beguiled Eve and cheated her out of that vital union was through SUBTLETY. This word in the Greek is ‘PANOURGIA’ meaning ‘craftiness, trickery, and sophistry’. The word ‘sophistry’ is most interesting since it is derived from the Greek word for wisdom – SOPHIA. Several English words come from the Greek word SOPHIA including ‘sophomore’ (wise fool), ‘sophistry’ (the art of deception through perverted logic), and ‘sophisticated’ (worldly wise).

Each of these terms, you will note, speak of the kind of worldly wisdom that appeals to the natural minded man. This kind of wisdom is of the world as that which Paul wrote:

“Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain."   I Corinthians 3:18-20

"For our boasting is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom, but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, yet more superabundantly toward you."   II Corinthians 1:12 concordant

Paul calls the wisdom of the world “fleshly wisdom”. It was the means by which the serpent, then, beguiled Eve as through subtlety – sophistry. The wisdom of this world, which is, according to Webster, ‘Reasoning that is superficially plausible but actually fallacious.’ It is also interpreted, ‘the art of deception through perverted logic.’ What was the argument that the serpent used that sounded superficially plausible but was, in fact, perverted logic? The serpent message was the lie "Ye shall not surely die:"

“Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil"   Genesis 3:4-5

There was a truth in that statement, and a lie, for after the woman and the man had eaten fruit of that tree of knowing good and evil, God Himself verified some of the serpent’s statement as being true.

‘“…and the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil.”  Genesis 3:22

The Lord God was saying that Adam had become as one of us. “Ye shall be as gods,” just what the serpent had said. Confirmed by the Almighty in these words: in that he has become AS A GOD!

"Then Yahweh Elohim said: Behold, man has become like one of Us in knowing good and evil."   Genesis 3:22 concordant

In FACT, then, the serpent had employed TRUTH MIXED WITH THE LIE about not dying to tempt Eve, when the serpent said to the woman:

"You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."   Genesis 3:4-5,

But what the serpent, in his sophistry (the art of deception through perverted logic), did not state was the WHOLE TRUTH… that being INDEPENDENT OF the one true GOD, she would die. Many, rather most of Adam and Eve’s descendants today still have not learned the difference between the FACTS of worldly wisdom and the TRUE wisdom of God. Jesus did not say to followers, ‘Ye shall know about the FACTS and those facts shall make you free.’

He said,

"If ever you should be remaining in My word, you truly are My disciples, and you shall know the truth, and the truth will be making you free."   John 8:31-32 concordant

I am the way, the truth and the life; no man comes unto the Father, but by me.’   John 14:6

He was made to be that for us by our Father, that we too may see and be able to be true, have wisdom, righteousness, holiness, and be completely delivered as is Jesus. It is written of Adam's fallen dead condition:

"And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."   Ephesians 2:1-5 NASB

The “course of this world” is the wisdom of this world. Of this wisdom it is written:

“This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish…”   James 3:15

The wisdom of this world is the same "wisdom" proclaimed by the serpent in Eden. Although Adam was disjointed within his own heart, he was still living under the spiritual presence of God. It is not until Genesis 4 that we read of Cain going out of the presence:

"And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. . .and he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch."   Genesis 4:16-17

"Nod" is the Hebrew word meaning "a land of exile or vagrancy". Thus, Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, away from the sense of God being present, away from the spiritual awareness of God, into complete exile to walk totally independent from and "outside" of God's present wisdom. This “land of Nod" condition of exile is stated to be "on the east of Eden." The Garden of Eden, heaven on earth, was westward, but Cain traveled eastward. Adam was driven away from the garden eastward (Genesis 3:24), and now Cain continues on yet farther in an eastward direction into the (the metaphysical) religions of today, away from even the presence of the one true God. Oh, we Christians should know His presence! Malachi speaks of Jesus Christ, who is the wisdom of God,

"For behold, the day is coming, consuming like a stove, and all the arrogant and all doing wickedness will become stubble. ‘And the coming day will set them aflame’, says Yahweh of hosts, ‘which shall not leave to them root or bough. Yet the Sun of righteousness will radiate for you who fear My Name, and healing will be in Its wings. And you will come forth and frolic like calves of the stall. And you will tread down the wicked, for they shall become ashes under the soles of your feet in the day which I am making’, says Yahweh of hosts."   Malachi 4:2 concordant

Had it not been for his own inner darkness, Cain could have remained living as a man in the presence of the Lord God in spite of Adam's sin and still be able to know the presence of God (a type of knowing God). But Cain rejected even the anointed presence of God to move in an opposite direction: eastward. Cain was moving further and further from the God life found in the garden of Eden. His final end is that of an exile, a vagrant living on a territory not originally pertaining to Adam, nor was it his true inheritance or possession.

There, alienated from God and severed from the anointing, the record states Cain dwelt. He settled there. He built there. Happy is the man who clearly understands that the organized church has also spiritually settled short of the promise. In fact, the church has still settled in the darkness of Cain: hating our brothers and sisters, cutting off any who disagree with our version of on-going fellowship in God, condemning and censoring those who believe differently. This death is the result of the original deception.

Blessed ones in Zion in this hour, however, are wise to hear and heed God's call to not settle short of standing in Christ Jesus’s flawless splendor. We are challenged to see what the eyes of the Lord sees, to stand with a number of others who have the Father's name written in their foreheads. Many church centered ministries have been influenced by worldly wisdom to settle short of the promise. Even as they draw nigh to God with their mouth, their hearts are again building outside the presence of the Lord, organizing and systematizing, with legal deceptions built into walls of formulated creeds and dogmas, creating heavens that need to pass away.

It will take an outpouring of the mighty Spirit that was first given to the church to make the heavens of the last two thousand years pass away. Yet, now has God commanded us all,

"Wherefore, leaving the word dealing with the rudiments of Christ, we should be brought on to maturity, (not again disrupting the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith on God, of the teaching of baptizings, besides the imposition of hands, and the resurrection of the dead, and of judgment eonian). And this will we be doing, that is, if God may be permitting.

For it is impossible for those once enlightened, besides tasting the celestial gratuity and becoming partakers of holy spirit, and tasting the ideal declaration of God, besides the powerful deeds of the impending eon, and falling aside, to be renewing them again to repentance while crucifying for themselves the Son of God again and, holding Him up to infamy (settling short of true glory).

For land which is drinking the shower coming often on it, and bringing forth herbage for those because of whom it is being farmed also, is partaking of blessing from God; yet, bringing forth thorns and star thistles, it is disqualified and near a curse, whose consummation is burning."   Hebrews 6:1-8 concordant

A lot of church works and charities are held up as being very important, The deception is great, as even the elect need wisdom. Many Christian leaders are interpreting scripture using worldly wisdom but what they build in people’s lives keep them disqualified as to true sonship with God. Christian leaders who settle short will find their works of ministry are destined to be “burnt up” in the consuming fires of God Almighty!

Godly wisdom sweeps away from our spiritual walk much of the infinite cobwebs the ambitions of ignorant religious men have spun for centuries over the surface of Christian church fellowships. These winds of “voluntary humility and will worship” have hidden all the vain deceits in the traditional church ordinances. Like those of the Pharisees, these teachings are in God’s mind but "weak and beggarly elements."

The scripture becomes dead letter when the power and form of God's true presence and spiritual wisdom is lacking. The essence of dead works constitutes religious standards of man's thinking. The wisdom of Jesus exercises nothing of this external religious paraphernalia and those who now follow the Lamb possess none of it either. Wisdom distinguishes between the flickering shadows of outward husks of the scripture and the deep hidden thought of God's mind that opens for us to know and understand Him.

Wisdom distinguishes between the valueless injunctions of ‘touch not, taste not, handle not’. The divine Life provides the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT — love, joy, peace, and righteousness — in our spirit. We are not among the self-promoting ministries who shout with anathemas, “Lo, He is here!” or “Lo, He is there!” but are raised to a spiritual state that follows on to discover DIVINE LIFE working in a mature measure within our own spirit.

“Here is wisdom. Let him who has a mind calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is the number of mankind, and its number is six hundred sixty-six.” Revelation 13:18 concordant

God reveals that true wisdom is to understand the beastly nature of a natural, carnal, religious man, especially understanding how he continually applies religious works to God’s people. The natural, carnal religious man uses worldly mindedness in church customs that are but fringes and phylacteries.

Overcomers have to be set aside in desert places to find out the truth of God. Our part of receiving wisdom is developed in us BY GOD. Our Father can use seasoned preachers, His messengers, to give much wisdom to us but no ritual good work such as church attendance can give it to us. Those under tutor of God’s Spirit have opened the doors of JESUS’ WISDOM.

Seeking first the kingdom of God should cause the forsaking of the attitudes formed by the world's wisdom within ourselves, most especially about carnal judging of other Christians exercised in gossiping, Babylonish clamor. His Holy Spirit enables us to forsake our own old mindsets to see, hear, and understand the new appearings of wisdom’s quickening voice within us. We are listening more intently to that instruction that makes us His ABIDING PLACE, that we may be the completed temple of the living God.
