Lucifer is referred to once in the King James version of scripture. “Lucifer” means “shining one” and refers to the King of Babylon as being the fruit of the man Adam, who was the son of the morning.
“That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say , How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!” Isaiah 14:4 KJV
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.’ Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, ‘Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;’” Isaiah 14:12-16
This is addressed to the King of Babylon. That king was a man. The man who glorified himself was Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon. He raised his heart to exalt his throne and be like God in himself:
“Nebuchadnezzar the king [of Babylon] made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Then an herald cried aloud, ‘To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.’” Daniel 3:1-6
Is it possible to explain these truths to human satisfaction? The thing that eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man MUST BE REVEALED to us by the Spirit of God. God is light and when the light of God’s Word works into our spirit, our soul begins to understand, shining as the firmament. The morning star is the OUTRAYING of the light of God in a son.
Adam was the FORTH SHINING of a son who was to rule the earth. What Adam could have easily been as the son of the morning was lost, to be expressed on a plain of death in every fallen descendant of Adam. Eventually a world leader, Nebuchadnezzar, developed fully into a most selfish god, a Lucifer, the King of Babylon. That selfish potential is in EVERY MAN. Today the hidden self in man has made many Lucifers who are kings in mystery Babylon:
“No one should be deluding you by any method, for, should not the apostasy be coming first and the man of lawlessness be unveiled, the son of destruction, who is opposing and lifting himself up over everyone termed a god or an object of veneration, so that he is seated in the temple of God, demonstrating that he himself is God? “ II Thessalonians 2:3-4 concordant
God’s sons are baptised into His Spirit and led by His Spirit to form CHRIST WITHIN US. It is in our spirit where the NEW MAN has created righteousness and true holiness. Christ is leading us to be filled with all the fullness of God. Jesus declared:
“You are the light of the world!” Matthew 5:14
When John saw the glory of the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, he especially noted that the city had:
“…the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious...and the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them that are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. And... there shall be no night there…” Revelation 21:11, 23-25
Daniel penned these great words of promise:
“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12:3
The day is here when the Day Star is arisen within the hearts of true sons. Many brethren are being brought close to SEE HIS GLORY, and all who look to see are flooded with His heavenly light that shines from within. It is a glorious light that honors the eminence to which Jesus ascended and from which Adam fell from to become “Lucifer”.
Adam was the son of the morning and his descendant became Lucifer, the king of Babylon. It is what every religious man will become if given opportunity. Since the transgression in Eden long ago, men’s spirits have been darkened into nonrecognition of God’s spirit. In Adam’s beginning, the spirit of man was connected to God’s spirit as a light, to give communication and a walk of purpose to rule over the earth and everything in it.
The descendants of Adam do not understand the spiritual part of their being, but now walk in a darkened condition, understanding things from the earthly world surrounding them. This fallen relationship of sonship is even now being wonderfully restored for some, and is becoming a reality for those enChristed ones:
“…you were sometimes darkness, but now you are light in the Lord: walk as children of light…” Ephesians 5:8
Our spirit is now being enlightened by the Word and Spirit of God. The mind of Christ has formed within to quicken our spirit and renew our mind to God’s light. Our light will not remain small in comparison with the light in Jesus. He is revealing what a full measure is to each one of His called, chosen and faithful disciples, the sons and daughters of God. The whole groaning planet is unknowingly looking for a FULL manifestation of sonship.
Paul was looking for this glorious unveiling, looking for the appointed time when the whole creation standing on tip-toes would come to see the firstborn from the dead. All will then see the Son of God and be FLOODED WITH THE LIGHT OF HIS LIFE:
"…for the creation shall then be delivered from the bondage of corruption..." Romans 8:19-21
When Adam, the son of the morning, fell, his descendants also fell. They all have missed the mark, and we all have come short of the glory of God. We see that it is in the darkened Adamic nature to love, adore, even glorify ourselves. This is at the very root of becoming a King of Babylon, a MAN OF SIN! The king of Babylon was called Lucifer, and that king was a man, a fallen man who used all his resources to make of himself a god adored by others.
Paul taught there was a man of sin sitting in the temple of God — leaders taking over the churches of his day— who would cause an apostasy to last until it was thoroughly exposed by the King of Heaven. ONLY the spirit of His mouth will be able to dispel the religious confusion working among His people:
"For the secret of lawlessness is already operating. Only when the present detainer may be coming to be out of the midst, then will be unveiled the lawless one (whom the Lord Jesus will dispatch with the spirit of His mouth and will discard by the advent of His presence), whose presence is in accord with the operation of satan, with all power and signs and false miracles and with every seduction of injustice among those who are perishing, because they do not receive the love of the truth for their salvation." II Thessalonians 2:7-10 concordant
The man of sin Paul identified is as much Lucifer now working in the kings of Mystery Babylon as ever before. These strong religious MEN can makes the earth to tremble, shake kingdoms, and make of the earth a wilderness. It was to a MAN dominated by a lying spirit, and to him alone, that these terrible words were recorded.
God placed Adam in the garden of Eden with the power to name what God made. Working together, they formed a fellowship that he and his descendants lost when they were cast into the wilderness of suffering as death spread over that very special man. Adam fell from fellowship with God as a son, having become so poor, death-laden, darkened in mind and impoverished in spirit that he is forever spending time and energy on what is not nourishing, laboring for that which does not satisfy. Vainly deceived men imagine that their thirst can be satisfied by partaking of the stagnant waters of earthly projects, but these are like “cracked cisterns that hold no water”.
Men now wander through the wilderness of life like lost sheep, seeking satisfaction and finding little that can truly satisfy. Men roam place after place in a pitiful search for earthly satisfactions, but find their goals over time to be very empty. Men and women fill the bars and nightclubs to buy wine and strong drink to further dull their senses, unleashing dark passions and rage. They throng to the places of passing pleasures in their unending longing to satisfy a thirst for meaning that is outside their grasp.
We Americans fill our lives with a host of vain things, adding more and more material things to care for and possess. But in the end, we find that all we have gained rises to mock us. The darkness in man has created a way for him in this world that gives NO lasting satisfaction:
“Cursed is the ground [earth realm] for your sake...” Genesis 3:17
"Now we are asking you, brethren, for the sake of the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling onto Him, that you be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be alarmed, either through spirit, or through word, or through an epistle as through us, as that the day of the Lord is present. No one should be deluding you by any method, for, should not the apostasy be coming first and the man of lawlessness be unveiled, the son of destruction, who is opposing and lifting himself up over everyone termed a god or an object of veneration, so that he is seated in the temple of God, demonstrating that he himself is God?
Do you not remember that, still being with you, I told you these things? And now you are aware what is detaining, for him to be unveiled in his own era. For the secret of lawlessness is already operating. Only when the present detainer may be coming to be out of the midst, then will be unveiled the lawless one (whom the Lord Jesus will dispatch with the spirit of His mouth and will discard by the advent of His presence), whose presence is in accord with the operation of satan, with all power and signs and false miracles and with every seduction of injustice among those who are perishing, because they do not receive the love of the truth for their salvation.
And therefore God will be sending them an operation of deception, for them to believe the falsehood, that all may be judged who do not believe the truth, but delight in injustice. Now we ought to be thanking God always concerning you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, seeing that God prefers you from the beginning for salvation, in holiness of the spirit and faith in the truth, into which He also calls us through our evangel, for the procuring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ" II Thessalonians 2:1-13 concordant
Lucifer, the king of Babylon in Old Testament times, is a type of the New Testament “man of sin.” The apostle Paul declared two thousand years ago that this lawless one was already operating in the church. He cannot be unseated in the temple until he is UNVEILED. Not until our spirit has been enlightened do we come to recognize our own good religious man. He is as good as he can be, a good church goer, but he is not God’s ultimate plan. Now the church age has run its course and it is time for the apostasy of it to be revealed for what it is.
Notice what Paul says of the man of sin operating in our temple, that he is to be REVEALED in his time. God reveals that the man of sin is antichrist, as He shows us Himself. We know the antiChrist is not a one-man world leader like Nebuchadnezzar who will yet be deceiving the earth. The antichrist has already been operating in devilish systems that have already deceived the various places Christians have camped. These systems have organized for long centuries in order to seize political power by marshalling vast armies, but simply have not seen what spirit is motivating them to do such.
This man of sin has been hidden! The majority of Christian people have been taught lies, waiting for the coming of a one-man antiChrist, the “man of sin” who will take over the nations in a great tribulation, while the church is raptured away to the clouds. These lies need no further consideration, for by the grace of the Holy Spirit, a REVEALING has come to His apprehended ones.
The Father wants made known the awful depths of man’s own carnal mind, the inherent Adamic self-will to ascend and exalt ourselves to be like God. Cain fell from grace to build a city on the plain of Shinar (Babylon). God is faithfully and relentlessly REVEALING THIS FALLEN MAN WHO BUILDS ON THE PLAINS OF CONFUSION WITHIN EACH ONE OF US.
Therefore, God is purging, refining, crushing, and stripping this religious character from us. He is removing the murderous gossip and ambitious building with works in the candlestick churches. Once we see what the man of sin does, when it is revealed to us, we may COME UP HITHER to be entering the spiritual Kingdom. We become POOR IN SPIRIT, pertaining to what spirit is seated in the center of our temple:
“Thus says Yahweh: ‘The heavens are My throne, And the earth My footstool; Where then is the house that you shall build for Me? And where then is the place of My rest? Yet all of these My hand has made, And all these are Mine’, averring is Yahweh. ‘Yet to this one I shall look: to the humble and smitten spirit, and one trembling at My word.’” Isaiah 66:1-2 concordant
When we grasp with understanding the mysteries of godliness, the cleansing truth surely recognizes these facts within our consciousness to destroy this man of sin from operating within us. A sinful man does everything in his power to maintain and conceal his faults, with reasoned selfish lying that covers up any discovery, for his discovery is his undoing! God is sending Christ in us to teach us by the spirit about the mystery of godliness, in order to expose our religious man. We need the light of God that Jesus sees. We long to be gathered to the Lord while God's Spirit is constantly dealing a consuming blow to our religious man of sin’s ideas and ways.
The serpent of the garden has become a huge dragon of religious systems that is still lying. He is a murderous spirit from the beginning. The devilish spirit never fell, was NEVER good, innocent, or right. If the serpent’s cunning craftiness of subtle deceitfulness and treachery uses a man’s own mind, then it can only be uncovered, revealed, exposed by the Holy Spirit’s dealings IN THE MIND. It is by spiritual revelation we know the truth, beloved. The order is this: NEW REVELATION ...then...OLD DESTROYED! Light swallows up darkness! Thank God, for the Light that cannot be deceived!
Listen to the words of Peter as he presses this truth home to understanding hearts of Christian believers:
“If you have tasted that the Lord is gracious, Who came as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, you also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” I Peter 2:3-5
This reveals just what we Christians are to become. We are to be rejected of men but chosen to be a “living stone” that is built into God’s spiritual house of kingdom priests. This comes by having acceptable spiritual sacrifices accomplished in our life. The city of God is not made of dead stones. God does not have a temple of dead stones! We are made “living” stones, each stone a spiritually alive person made to be a permanent abiding place for God.
His Word and Spirit are fashioned within our spirit, covering us with glittering precious gold. We are overwrought by God’s nature shining out in rays of penetrating glory to enlighten us as jewels of God’s nature and power. Mature Christians are a spiritual house which God inhabits! They are a temple that God inhabits, one who ministers true spiritual sacrifices by being ALIVE in the truths of God’s long term goals.
Our part in His spiritual house is not established in us by earthly efforts and religious works of well meaning men in the church. It’s not done by man but by the sacrifice of receiving the truth of His teachings within our spirit. We are built up together with Jesus in the spirit to make acceptable heavenly progress. Our beloved apostle Paul wrote:
“The temple of God is holy, which temple you are…” I Corinthians 3:17
“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you?” I Corinthians 6:19
“For you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them.” II Corinthians 6:16
Our bodies are the temple of the living God, and the Holy Ghost is in our spirit teaching us to believe the truth of scripture AS THE HOLY GHOST TEACHES IT. The wonder of the Spirit of God working within with mercy and grace is taking possession of our spirit. He must rule there, from within us. Oh, we may have yielded to the dark spirit as one of the worst of sinners, yet when Christ touches our spirit, the darkness that possessed us is replaced. In its stead is a new realization to enlighten our spiritual being, so our spirit CAN LIVE IN CONNECTION with God’s Spirit!
Then Christ’s miracle in-working of His sublime truth makes us holy bearers of incorruptible seed. Truth will burst upon the carnality of man and rebuke the lying spirit hidden in religious intellectual minds as never before. His spirit is sweeping away the lies in all the religious works of the prideful kings of Babylon! Overcoming Christians are called to COME UP HITHER, come away from all the self-seeking, self-indulgence, and self-promotion done in the candlestick churches which are supposed to belong to the Lord! We are to come away from the markings of fleshly kings, the thrones of fleshly captains, the fleshly thrones of mighty men. We are to come away from the man of sin who usurps the rightful place of God amongst the Lord’s people!
Many Christian leaders believe that the temple of GOD is to be built again as a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. I tell you that does not qualify as THE TEMPLE OF GOD. Neither does that swaggering, drunken, idolatrous harlot systems called MYSTERY BABYLON qualify as being the temple of God. In the unfolding of Revelation, it is clear that the temple of God is not Mystery Babylon. Neither is it a restoration of the Jewish temple of Solomon. THE TEMPLE OF GOD IS TRULY A HOUSE OF SPIRITUAL PEOPLE who are the abiding place God inhabits, a people knowing God in their inner spiritual lives.
He is drawing His people unto Himself as individuals who are to make up a corporate city. He will never vacate this city, as His eternal home is within His people. They are the temple not built by man’s hands. Abraham looked for such a city! God will never vacate this people. He yet invites us to come, come to the FEAST OF HIS INDWELLING, this spiritual place where God dwells in US.
We will not now return and compromise with religious efforts made up by the schemes of religious men in passing Pentecostal church heavens, for to do so would be to set aside and deny the victory of spiritual sacrifices won. Jesus rendered ALL SELF WORKS to be of no avail in freedom from death. Now it is ONLY the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus that frees us from the law of sin and death. There is freedom working in the people who prove to be the temple of God. Some are called, some are chosen, and some are faithful to recognize His calling in their inner spiritual man.
God is faithful to give us eyes to see: TO SEE AROUND INSIDE US with His spiritual eyes. We see all that is going on within our own being WITH THE UNDERSTANDING MIND OF CHRIST. His mind is indeed working to enlighten our inner life as His sons and daughters. Jesus knew what was in man and did not need any to testify of man. What is acceptable to the majority of Christians is but in truth how the man of sin, Lucifer, is using the things of God to glorify himself in the realms of the church age.
